5.2 Getting Your Viz On Your Own Webpage
Although there is a great list of Tableau video tutorials on the JavaScript API, we are going to take you through a select few video tutorials of our own using the same Global Superstore dataset that you used in the Getting Started video of chapter 2.3. So let's start with the most basic step: getting your viz online. You may have already completed this step in a prior chapter. If so, you can skip this video and move onto the next. But if not, follow along with the video below. However, if you didn't complete the "Getting Started" tutorial using the Global SuperStore dataset on your own, you can use my version of the Tableau workbook so that you can proceed. However, you'll also need to download the data and "hook it up" to the Tableau workbook. Simply open the workbook and Tableau will prompt you to select the accompanying dataset. Then, navigate to the folder wher you downloaded and unzipped the two data files.
Although the video will walk you through this step, you will want to first create your Tableau Public account (which is unique from your Tableau account) so that you can publish your viz online. Remember, if you already completed this in a prior chapter, skip this video and proceed with the next one.
