3.4 In Summary
Tableau is an industry-leading data description and visualization tool. There are many more advanced features (some, of which, you'll learn in the next couple of chapters) of Tableau. However, it is used primarily for understanding the stories that data can tell. It's dashboard feature is very useful for operational- or mid-level managers. Higher-level managers will often not need the level of detail and drill-down capabilities that Tableau provides.
Microsoft offers an up-and-coming competitor to Tableau: Power BI. Power BI has some cool capabilities as well and is gaining popularity. However, Tableau is still currently the industry leader in its niche; which is why we cover it in this book.
